PROFILE
In 1960, Telefonen Zavod (Belogradchik) was
established as a branch of the Voroshilov Plant
(Sofia). Initially, it specialized in the assembly
of signaling devices (electric bells, sirens,
fire alarms) and later on in the final assembly
of telephone sets, as well as the shipment of
final telephone units for telephone sets.
In 1968, the company obtained a license to manufacture telephone
capsules (both technical documentation and equipment) from the German company Krone.
In 1969, the company obtained a license to manufacture microphone capsules
(both technical documentation and equipment) from the German company Krone.
In 1970, the company introduces a set of instruments and equipment.
In 1975, the company obtained a license to manufacture dialing mechanisms from
the Austrian company Kapsch.
In 1982, the annual production of telephones reached 1,200,000 telephone sets.
Therefore, the factory was equipped to be able to manufacture all of the basic elements and components,
including printed circuit boards, required for the assembly of telephone sets with either a rotary dial
or a keypad.
In 1989, the total number of the staff of the company was 2,600 persons.
In 2002, the Incoms-Telecom Holding was privatized and transformed into a private-owned company.
In 2003, the company was a part of Incoms-Telecom Holding, but had already been registered as the single
person joint stock company - Telefonen Zavod EAD.
In 2004, the management of the company was changed. Development and manufacturing of new products began.
The process of modernization and reconstruction of the factory started.
In 2006, the company adopted the name Bel Tel Telefonen zavod EAD (Bel Tel Telephone Factory,
Single Person Joint Stock Company).
In 2006, the first fixed GSM was manufactured.
Also in 2006, the ownership of the company was changed. The ownership was shifted from Incoms-Telecom Holding
to the single owner, B. Dimitrov.
There are various technological processes involved in the production of telephone sets and at this time all
the main manufacturing actions are still carried out.
